MasterPlan for Champions

The Champions of Honor process starts with a commitment.

This may be as the response to a call from your Pastor, who like Gideon wants his band of men who are true, loyal, and will stand with him. It may be as a result of the beginning of a Men’s Ministry in your church. Either way, it is the result of a man catching a vision that he can be more than he is; that he can be a Champion.

The second part of commitment is faithfulness to your local church. Commitment and faithfulness are earmarks of a Champion in his life that determine his being a part of God’s team.

It is said that a man’s heart is where his time and money are. If you look at your calendar and checkbook, you will see where your heart is. The commitment process, therefore, challenges the time of a man to study the resources and the money of a man to give faithfully to his church and missions.

One of the most important parts of the process is the forming of the “Band of Brothers” between the men of that church. Regular weekly meetings where men can be men are a must. Some come together and grill hamburgers and hot dogs, and have a time of fellowship which is then followed by a time of teaching and breaking into small groups to discuss the teaching. These small groups are so very powerful. As the group gets to know one another, the walls come down, and there is a great opportunity for ministry. This is how a “Band of Brothers” begins to form.

There could also be a Men’s Sunday school class to supplement the weekly meeting but you need that men’s night out to seal the deal. No man is an island, and someone who doesn’t attend the groups isn’t going to bind to the band of brothers.

The Process [Learning Masculine Godliness]

One of the most important parts of the process is the forming of the “Band of Brothers” between the men of that church.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians that Christ prepares His church by “the washing of water by the word.” By the same token, a man who wants to grow in Godly manhood needs to read his Bible and books that are written from a Godly Masculine perspective.

To be commissioned, a Champion must complete a list of reading materials. After being commissioned, men are encouraged to continue bringing other men through the champions challenge. There are Champions lapel pins available as well as a Champions Challenge Coins. The Champion of Champions may want to get the Champions Ring and take the ring Challenge – harvesting for the Kingdom.

The plan is that simple. It is the challenge for men to grow in Christ as a man and then to help other men grow in Christ as well. It truly develops a "Band of Brothers."

The Commissioning [Completing the Process]

When you catch that vision, it is formalized by joining with a band of brothers committed to do the work to complete the mission and be commissioned as a Champion of Honor.

All of the books listed in the Curriculum have been approved and count towards commissioning. To be commissioned, a Champion must complete 10 resources, regularly attend men’s meetings, and read his Bible daily. When a man has been faithful with his training, consistently supporting his church and “Band of Brothers,” and has completed these requirements, he is then eligible to be commissioned.

The commissioning of a man has specific requirements to round out his journey and a Champions sword is presented to the man upon completion of discovering his Biblical masculinity in this process. At that point, the church should order the sword to apply for commissioning. There is a $100 commissioning fee. He will then be recognized in a commissioning service. After the man has been commissioned, we encourage the church to continue developing the plan and award to recognize the men as they grow in Christ.
